Music

Music for everyone

Music speaks to us in powerful ways, and here at Athol Congregational Church you may find yourself moved deeply by our rich music program.  Known as “The Singing Church”, our choir sings a well-balanced blend of both traditional and contemporary worship music, along with a few secular surprises thrown in!  On any given Sunday you might hear a traditional choral anthem, a 1970’s era soft rock hit, a contemporary worship song, or a Broadway show tune!

Choir

Our 20+ member choir sings during worship every Sunday morning throughout the school year, and we rehearse every Wednesday evening as well.  Led by our talented Minister of Music and accompanist, Terry Parker II, our sacred and secular selections all speak to a deep spiritual connection through music in one form or another.

Are you a beginner who doesn’t read a lick of music?  Are you a years long veteran of choral singing?  Or are you somewhere in between? If you desire to sing in a group and can carry a tune, you will find a warm and friendly welcome in the choir, as well as help from others that will make the experience less intimidating.

Bell Choir

Our Bell and Chime choirs perform once a month and on special occasions.  Our volunteer directors, Al Benjamin and Pat Darby, are both highly experienced musicians and retired music teachers who bring their expertise to leading these groups, which range in size from six to eleven players.

Special Music

Our weekly worship services are filled with vocal melodies and harmonies as well as a variety of instrumental solos and duets that lift the soul, and leave the congregation wishing for more!
